Dear Fifth Grader,
I am happy to welcome you to my class this year and am looking forward to an exciting year as we share our ideas, talents, and interests. Are you ready for a grand adventure around the world? On the first day of school, you will receive a passport. In the passport, you will collect passport stamps from the countries we study. This year we will be learning about the continents and countries of the Eastern Hemisphere. We will do some fun activities learning about the Chinese, Greeks and Romans, knights and castles, and foods from around the world. You will study all about marine life and magnetism, write some fun stories and read some amazing adventures. Pack your bags and bring a spirit of adventure with you.
Here are a couple of other items for you to bring to school:
-Please bring a personal water bottle with your name clearly marked on the side. It is good for all of us to stay hydrated throughout the day.
-Please bring a New International Readers Version Bible if you can. This Bible is written for readers your age.
-Please save a shoe box at home for an activity we will be doing after school starts. Crayola now makes an erasable colored pencil. If your parents are going to buy you new colored pencils, these might be helpful during our mapping activities. Sometimes we make mistakes and it sure would be nice to be able to erase the colored pencil. When purchasing the Sculpty or Fimo clay, buy small packages all in the same color.
If you have any questions or concerns during the year, do not hesitate to bring them to my attention. All problems can be solved with openness and understanding.
Here is to a wonderful school year!
Bon Voyage,
